LovePrestashop
I am installing prestashop 1.3.1 on my prod site and it didn't pass "allowed to open external urls" test (red color). However, I could continue the installation because the "allowed to open external urls" is an optional setting. I have contacted my hosting company but they doesn't know how to fix it. My question is that if I continue the installation, what functions may be effected in my shop and what kind of issues I may have late?Any comments and sugestions are welcome. Thank you so much! rocky
I think the "Live PrestaShop Feed" when you first log in to the Back Office won't work and the "Currency update" feature on the Payment > Currencies tab won't work.
LovePrestashop
Many thanks rocky. In this case I need ask them to fix it. Would you know how to change the php settings to fix this issue? Thanks
rocky
I think you can enable it by adding the following in a php.ini file: allow_url_fopen = On I've attached a php.ini file including this and many other changes. Let me know if it works for you. php.zip
LovePrestashop
Thank rocky. I will try to ask my hosting company to change it - I will try but not sure they will do it or not. Thanks you so so much!
LovePrestashop
my hosting company refused to open it. rocky is right - the issue is the live feed and update currency rate button don't work
rocky
That's a shame. At least it is no big loss. You can manually change the currency rates and you can subscribe to the PrestaShop blog instead of relying on the "Live PrestaShop Feed".
Mav
Why don't use cURL functions instead if fopen is not working?
rocky
You can post a bug report (or maybe a feature request would be better) if you want the PrestaShop team to consider doing that.
missshoes
where i find php.ini file ??? tnx
rocky
It should be in the root directory (public_html or www) of your server. If it isn't, then you will need to create one. Try using the one I posted above. If anything weird happens on your server, simply delete the php.ini to restore your original PHP settings. Goldtree_web_design
I am having similar problems too, however, my Installation is freezing on Stage 3 - and yes, the "Allowed to open external URLs" is RED. Does this instance have anything to do my Installation not proceeding to the final stage or is it an isolated problem? I have attached a screenshot of the error stage here:
