This page isn't working

I just installed PrestaShop and get white screen or "This page isn't working" on many topics in dashboard, such as add new product or just products.  I reset the memory limit in php.ini to as high as 512 and also changed the php version from 5.6 to 7.0 and 7.1. This can change which items give errors but errors still occur.

I turned on error reporting but still got white screens.  This is in the Dashboard, not the site.  However, I changed the php version to 7.0 (I think I had only tried 7.1 and earlier versions like 5.6 before) and this seemed to fix the problem.
