Simonas Invertus
There are two many possibilities to guess correctly without any error message: 1) Your server has upload file limit often it can be 2MB. Did you try different image types and sizes? 2) Upload folder has incorrect permissions. Did you set all PrestaShop folders to 777? 3) Some third party module has a bug which blocks upload functionality. 4) PrestaShop was modified by your developer improperly. 5) PrestaShop was setup improperly. Possible not very likely.

This would be a huge security risk. Actually no folder should have the right 777 which would give everybody writing rights.

You could check with your webhoster if you have the option to switch between php running as apache module or cgi. If you run php as apache module it can happen that your folders have the ftp user as owner and the shop is not 'allowed' to upload files. If running php as cgi module you won't have these problems. If you cannot switch to cgi change the owner of the folder (but DO NOT give everybody writing rights). Most ftp programs give you the option to check the permissions of a folder or a file. In most times permissions are the problem. Edited November 3, 2017 by prestamax (see edit history)
