[SOLVED] v1.3.1 Install GoDaddy PHP5 Step2 frozen {Economy Hosting - Linux (Free with Domain)

Recommended Posts

!http://www.dentalengine.com/store/prestashop1.3install_hang.PNG(PrestaShop 1.3 Install Step 2 Hang)!

This is very frustrating. All I read is about how easy this is and see how great it is. I have followed the PrestaShop Wiki for Installation to the T >> PrestaShop Wiki Installation

* My GoDaddy hosting already had PHP5 enabled
* I have created a database
* I have downloaded and unzipped PrestaShop to a folder on my computer
* I have FTP uploaded all my files from my computer to the chosen folder on my webserver
* I have given the correct folders the correct Attributes
* I have browsed to the correct directory to begin installation
* I select Language in Step 1
* I click Next.
* The installation hangs
** The grey scrollbar at the top just keeps scrolling and I never see any content in the page
** I cannot click the next button.
* I have tried this in Chrome, Firefox, and even IE
* I am pissed. :-)

Ideas?

OK, just for the fun of it, and also because I'm getting overly frustrated and bored with trying another useless/unsuccessful action all while refreshing this forum, waiting for a helpful reply but only to find my thread Views to increase but not responses...

I just deleted the entire folder that was holding my prestashop store, re-unzipped to a folder on my computer, re-FTP uploaded the files from my computer to my godaddy webhost. With my FTP client open, I also CHMOD - 777 all of the recommended files.

I browse to /store/install and whatdya know?!? The same gd thing as before, Step Lowly 2 is locking up and not moving past...

I'll leave the step two page open for several hours; just wish there was somesort of documentation about this.

You've chosen a host that has compatibility problems with PrestaShop. I've written some steps on my site here on hosts with known compatibility problems that may help. They are just tips that I found on the forums though. I've never used GoDaddy myself though, so I can't confirm that it will work.

Thank you for your suggestions @rocky.

After doing a little more digging, I think I have found the solution:

THIS ONLY PERTAINS TO GODADDY HOSTING

I tried to load Prestashop on several of my hosting accounts for testing.

However after many attempts on my free hosting accounts and several walk thrus of the installation process. I discovered that I could only get Prestashop to work on paid hosting accounts.

On each attempt of the installation the results were the same. On all hosting accounts that were free, the installation froze at the 2nd screen with "optional installation"

On both paid hosting accounts the installation was flawless.

I don't know if this result is common but it seems that the people getting stuck on page 2 of the installation are on free hosting

AND

Yes I believe that must be true, I was trying to install a free webhost and it won't let me get pass page 2. I have not tried to install it on a paid hosting yet because I wanted to try this software first before committing to it. too bad..

As it so happens, this particular hosting account is a GoDaddy "Economy Hosting - Linux (Free with Domain)". So, I'll just maybe setup a LAMP or WAMP from home for now and when we upgrade our hosting account soon, I'll give it another whirl. Marking as Solved for now, so this appears to be the only solution. /sigh
