Adding checkout attributes

Hello everyone,

I am just building my first Prestashop. In the course of setting up the sales process in ran into the following problem:

In my shop I need more general information from each customer than the information that is asked for by default during the checkout process. Therefore I would need to insert an additional page in the process or add some more text fields and fields to upload data. I could not find any way to to that in the Backend and there also seems to be no forum thread that describes how alter the checkout process.

Does anybody know how I could do that? In case there is no way to get it done in the normal Backend I would greatly appreciate if anyone knew a module that would produce the desired effect.

It can't be done in the Back Office and it is difficult to do. There are a few modules that combine the checkout pages into a single page or allow guest checkout, but there are none that add a page of fields that I'm aware. There are no hooks that make it easy to create a module to do it either.

Reading your answer, you seems to say that it is impossible to do it...
but "impossible is not french" as we say in France ;-)
Joke apart, is somebody know how to add a field in the checkout form ?
