froilan
I am using Prestashop 1.7 and I did a testing at Frontend but when I notice that it charges 2 Shipping Fee for the 2 qty of same item. What should I do to have only I shipping fee for the same item?
Scully
You haven't posted any details on your shipping fee setup. How can we help without these details? If you added fees directly to your products, these fees are calculated as per item.
froilan
Yes, I added the shipping fees on the product directly. I think it is not right if checkout calculation, it will be charge as per item in which they will be delivered to one place only and they are they same item. In Product Catalog (Back-office); Item Name : iPhone 7 Plus Price : $900.00 Shipping Fee : $50.00 During Check-out (Frontend) Item Name : iPhone 7 Plus Qty : 2 Sub Total : $1800.00 Shipping Fees : $100.00 Total : $1900.00 Total should be : $1850.00 only. This is the correct one hence they are the same item and to be delivered to one location.
Scully
You are wrong! Shipping fees which are set in the product are calculated PER ITEM. Use the carriers settings if you wish a different behavior.
ThomasF
You are wrong! Shipping fees which are set in the product are calculated PER ITEM. Use the carriers settings if you wish a different behavior. That is correct by definition, of course.. however, since I have a similar problem ( ) the carrier shipping is not ideal either.. making ranges by either value or weight. I am working on a shop now where, for example, calenders are sold for say 18€. Shipping is 5€ but is the same for 1 - 3 calenders, 4 - 10 calenders need different packaging and thus different fees (more like 6€) Or, on the same shop, a painting on canvas may cost 40€ (print) but will have higher shipping costs than the calender and also higher for two prints.. what makes it worse, one item has 4 different flavors (original, normal poster, HQ poster and canvas print) each needing different fees for single and multiple. how can one do that? or how can one not do that but find a compromise? I am running out of ideas.. :| how do other shops handle this kind of problem - as surely most shops have this?
Scully
Why make it that complicated? My carrier setup practice rules: 1. There is no need for shipping fees to 100% match with real costs. 2. Make simple rules, for example $5 minimum fee plus $1 per item. 3. Product weight (in terms of shipping) must not necessarily correspond with its real weight. 4. Avoid having carriers directly assigned to products if possible.

This (#2) is something like the compromise / alternative I was looking for.. some ideas from a different perspective.. I was juggling #3 in my mind but couldn't (and still can't) come up with a solution that works. I think your rules (and others, if there are any) should be put in a "best practices" sticky post? Thanks, Thomas
Scully
The forums main goal is learning from the more experienced users and experts. I had customers spending days in trying to setup shipping rules to match 100% with costs. And they all failed because the always got to some point with rather exotic expeptions or carts which contained many different products. More rules: 1. There is no need for shipping fees to 100% match with real costs. 2. Make your costs usually match for common situations. 3. Make simple rules, for example $5 minimum fee plus $1 per item. 4. Product weight (in terms of shipping) must not necessarily correspond with its real weight. You can consider weight as a simple mechanism to differentiate costs. 5. Avoid having carriers directly assigned to products if possible. 6. Have one carrier which acts as "Carrier of last resort" if you assign products to carriers. If you directly assign products to carriers, the situation may occure where a cart with different products results in a "no carrier available situation". 7. If you can't explain your shipping costs with 30 seconds your setup might be too complicated.
TiaNex Shopping
i know your problem maybe some express charge per 0.5kg or 1kg, if the weight of one product is 0.2kg , 1 or 2 products both will be charged for 0.5kg Edited September 6, 2017 by Irder (see edit history)
