schot
Hello, One of our customers want to be able to switch on/off the display of the intro text of products on CATEGORY pages. Can this be done? Some products he doesn't want to have intro text displayed, for other products he does want them displayed. These products are NOT stored or displayed on the same 'category' page! Any help is appreciated!
Scully
What exactly is intro text? Short description?
schot
Yes, short description.
Scully
I thought the field isn't mandatory. If I m right, just leave it empty.
schot
It is indeed not mandatory. The 'Problem' is somewhat more complex. The customer wants the category page to display a 'fixed height' text from the 'Short description'. Some products have 100 char short description, some more, some less, some none. In order to have a 'neat' category page, we want to 'fix' the height of the block for the short description. BUT!!! When a product has NO short description, the block should not be displayed at all. The products with no short description are in the same category. How can this be configured..??
Scully
It can't be configured from the backend - at least not up to PS 1.6.1.15. You have to change the category.tpl and the corresponding css file. One other option would be to play with category images (for example one dark color, 870 x 217 px). Using them might give a similar result to what you wish. Edited August 3, 2017 by Scully (see edit history)
