Error message parsererror - cannot adjust ranges in a carrier

I had 2 carriers manually loaded but the shipping costs were adding incorrectly when ordering multiple products where some were assigned to 1 carrier and some to the 2nd carrier.

 

I tried to add a new range so that I could eliminate the 2nd carrier. Then the error messages started. Sometimes a change to the ranges worked. I saved, exited and looked again. The changes were not there. I tried again and when I tried to save (click on finish button), I started receiving error messages and no changes would save. I disabled the 2nd carrier but none of my changes are saving for the first. I deleted ranges back to nothing and started again by adding 1 range at a time, saving after each one. That only worked for 2 ranges and then I couldn't add more. Just the error messages. Help!

 

I read somewhere to copy the console message from Chrome. This is what it says.

Is there an easy fix to this?

Use Firefox.

I normally only use Firefox to run my webstore. So that is not the issue.
