Fatal error: Call to undefined function json_encode()

Ok so i'm trying to install PrestaShop for the very first time.  I have watched the video that prestashop has on youtube as well as the instructions for version 7.1 and I have followed it step by step to the tee,  but I CANNOT figure out what this error means..   Can someone please help me.  I use GoDaddy as my host.

I also get this exact same error and I'm also using GoDaddy.

What version of PHP are you using?

Figured this out. I was using PHP7.1. Downgraded to 5.4(Native) and it's gone through the installation

You can and should use PHP 7.0 if available.  PHP 7.1 will not work
