Adding Imported Categories to a Product

Prestashop version: 1.6.1.13

 

 

I have imported categories using CSV with utf-8 encoding without any errors. The categories all show in "Catalog-->Categories" but I cannot add the imported categories to manually added products. When I go into "Catalog-->Product-->Associations-->Associated Categories" I only see "Home". The imported categories are not on the list. I've also noticed that only categories that were added manually are the only ones showing on the frontend but not the imported ones.  

 

I was wondering if this is a common thing with imported categories and if so:

 

1. How can I resolve this so that when I import categories I can add them to manually added products.

 

2. Also, when I import categories they display on the store frontend under the category section.
