selectshop.at
Yes, for security reasons. See why and instructions here: https://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/458378-prestashop-security-release/ and here: https://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/544579-major-security-issues-with-few-modules-and-themes/
El Patron
also 1.6.1.0 offered some reason to upgrade for performance reasons. Once you upgrade you will understand the difference between a pre-release 1606 and latest, I think you would be happy. for more adventure and assuming you upgrade on a devcopy first (recommended) I'm personally loving 1.7, freaky fast.....but you would want too make sure your 3rd party modules are avail for 1.7. I'd wait for 1.7.1.2 but we see good results with 1.7.1.1. (so if doing an upgrade and savvy on devcopy builds for testing, give 1.7 a try, you might just like it, I do. KarZan
I just upgraded 1.6.1.1 to 1.6.1.13 and have had mostly problems. The most biggest is I can not update old products. It just ends up to a page not found. Also it seems bamkwire email does not anymore contain the actual bank information and thus the customer does not get any relevant information. So if you decide to upgrade make a copy of your store and upgrade that and then test EVERYTHING. I was stupid not to test everything. Just made a quick "everything seems to work" test and now I am in trouble. I noticed the problems a few days after and I could not just restore the old store.

Mostly of the problems while upgrades faile are due to wrong server configuration and the use of extra addons or theme. In this case before upgrade disable them. Than you should check the following: 1) Activate debug modus: https://www.prestash...l-server-error/ 2) Delete server cache manually. https://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/351956-how-to-clear-prestashop-16-cache-manually/ 3) check server configuration It should be: PS 1.6 X magic_quotes_gpc = off memory_limit = 256M (better: 512M) max_execution_time = 300 max_input_time = 300 upload_max_filesize = 20M post_max_size = 20M max_input_vars = 10000 allow_url_fopen = on safe_mode = off cURL mod_rewrite php 5.4.5+ (+php-fpm, + opcache + fast-cgi - for better performance) server firewall like cageFS disabled or configured to don't block Prestashop services. Prestashop uses several external services. mod_security = off mySQL 5.5
Rhobur
One reason to upgrade from 1.6.0.6 would be the BO products not saving when changed, a hot topic issue few months ago.
