Joss
There is probably a really easy answer to this!We are putting an Audio Book site together and we want to allow people to either order a CD or be able to download the talking book. Can this be done with one product entry?Joss
rocky
No, you'll need to create separate products, one with a downloadable product and one without. I suggest that you make two categories "Audio Books" and "CDs", so the customer can choose which they want, then browse your products.
Joss
Yes, that is what we have done and are cross linking from between the two.Not very neat from the customer facing point of view, however. It would be a lot better if the customer could just look at the audio book, decide they like it, then decide from a drop down or radio button whether to buy a hard product or download. eltitos
May be there is a way, but i'm not sure.Use the combinations, ex download and CD, modify the carrier step for check the cart if the product have the combinations ID for CD, in that case display the shipping tpl (i don't know if it's possible)
Joss
Depending on what you are selling you may want to offer three options to the customer:1. Order a CD - taken to checkout, shipping added and so on.2. Order a Download - taken to checkout, no shipping, download link generated etc3. Order a Download, but also a CD copy - Charged CD Price with shipping, but also generates a download link.I have bought a couple of software products with the third option where I want the printed manual and additional library data that comes with the CD version, but for work reasons, I need to get using the software immediately. ChrisDBurton
I'm working on a similar site that would greatly benefit from having an either/or option. Maybe a module that can be set by an attribute group? Maybe this can be a feature of 1.
