Upgrade to 1.6.1.13, now get a "404 - article not found" error

I just used the one-click upgrade from CPanel to upgrade my Prestashop to the 1.6.13, now when I try to go to my shop site, I get a "404 - article not found" error.    I can't even log into the admin, I get the same error.

 

I clicked on the "make backup" option before the upgrade, hopefully, I haven't lost everything.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I tried restoring my previous version backup from Softaculous, and now I have my shop back live, but when I try to  log into the admin office, all I get is the PrestaShop 1.6.10 logo with a picture of a Penguin and my shop name below it, no control panel.

Fortunately, I was able to restore all the files in my public html directory from a week-old server backup and get everything working again, but now I am afraid to upgrade PrestaShop to the latest for fear of losing everything again.

I am having the same issue although my 404 error messages are more sporadic.  I have checked with my hosting company and they have run multiple checks and don't know what is causing it.  Any ideas?
