Exporting products, categories etc from 1.6 to a clean 1.7?

Hey,

 

I'm wondering if anyone has done exporing from 1.6 to 1.7 succesfully? Is there a reliable, good method for that? I do not want to upgrade, and want to start over from scratch with 1.7, but of course I'd need all my products, combinations etc.

 

(as extra bonus, I'd love to have the same exact product URLs as before, so links out there would keep working)

I would create a copy of the 1.6 shop, upgrade and then copy several category related tables to your fresh 1.7 shop. Nobody knows what really changed between 1.6 and 1.7.

That's what came to my mind as well as the only solution I cna think of, but I was hoping there's a more streamlined option.
