(SOLVED...almost) Problem cased by number of modules in a fresh install

Recommended Posts

Hi -
I have just installed Prestashop on my server and seem to have a bizarre issue with a "maximum" number of modules.
Just copying all the standard installation subdirectory folders into the modules folder on the server causes a blank page to be displayed in the backoffice modules section.
If I remove 20 or so module folders the admin page displays normally showing all the remining modules presend in the modules directory. If I add one passed the "limit" the page displays blank.
This is irrespective of the module - if I remove one I can add another.
This is also irrespective of if the modules are installed or not...

For info I am on a french 1and1 host pack (yes yes I know what they say...!!) but have a corrected php.ini copied into all the subdirectories and think I have done everything else... (but possibly not as I have a problem!!)

Does anyone have any idea what this is cased by?
Should be something simple if this is a fresh install and not working properly...

Many thanks in advance.
James.

PS 1,3,1
PHP 5,2,13
MSQL 5

OK - just fixed my own problem....
For those it may help:

- Changed the config/config.inc.php "display errors" setting to "on"
- In the module tab then received an "Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted..." message
- Changed the php.ini file entry "memory_limit" (the maximum amount of memory a script may consume, set under "resource limits") from the default 8M up to 12M.
- Recopied the php.ini into all folders (yes - the joy of being with 1and1 hosting and not having access to the base p^hp.ini file)
- Switched back off the "display errors" in config.inc.php

And all works perfectly.
Happy days.

Still it does seem more than a bit strange to me that my install requires more script memory than default just to display the standard set of modules in the admin panel.
Is there something I have done wrong in the install?
I would be very interested to hear if so......
