What is the best way to upgrade from version: 1.5.6.2 to version: 1.7.1.1

Can anyone tell me the best way to upgrade from Prestashop version: 1.5.6.2 to Prestashop version: 1.7.1.1 please?

The website has been up and running for over three years. Will I be able to create a new 1.7 installation that will use the existing database, images etc?

Seems like that is the way I will have to go. One more question. Can you recommend an addon that will allow me to export all data and images?

CSV files have the disadvantage that you will lose a lot of information. 

 

If you want to try the automatic upgrade you should switch the theme to the default theme and uninstall any module that you are not 100% certain to support 1.7 (disabling is not enough!) before you start the upgrade process.

 

Of course you can also try Copy_shopdata.
