msward
Hi,Been developing my shop for some months and all gone well and been using it ok but the product images have been a bit crap so I decided to try and sort them out.I sell pictures I take at sports events, I have written some software to catalogue the images and it creates a thumbnail that is square, obviously my pictures are not square so it creates an image 460 x 460 with the picture filling either top to bottom or side to side depending on orientation and white space filling the other side. I thought this the best way as it means I don't have to worry about aspect rations as Prestashop seemed to be changing them and some pictures might be cropped so have different rations and I thought bringing them all to one square would mean no messing about other than size in Presta.I am getting quite in to editing Presta shop but I just cant get my head around the images, I have changed the image settings in the back office, the main product (I am using the default theme by the way) seems to use large_default, when I import my pictures it creates one 460 x 460 and displays it as 460 x 460 fine, problem is I decided this was too big so deleted the product and imported them again and despite changing the settings in the back office to say 250 x 250, it still creates a large default of 460 x 460, ok I took it and resized it and ftp's it directly in to the image directory, I also rotate it just to make sure it was the correct image being shown, it still displays in 460 x 460 which of course means the image looks awful. I have cache turned off but even if it was that, the image would then I assume not have changed to the rotated one which is actually the wrong way around now but means I can see it defiantly is using the one I changed.Anyone tell me how the hell I can actually change the image sizes properly ?Other thing is I don't want the zoom function, neither the hover other one or click on it to enlarge it, again don't want people stealing the images but cant see how to totally remove the function ?Also when I remove it can I also stop Presta from creating the image for this, it was set to thickbox at 800 x 800, I have taken away everything from the image settings in back office so its still there but nothing is selected for it, not product, category or anything but again it still generates an 800 x 800 image, also tried reducing this to 460 x 460 which also made no difference.Problem this is all causing is the shop is taking up a mahoosive amount of space, an average sports event I might take anything from 700 to 10k photos and also I sell them as pack for each competitor so that's also another record, hoping I can remove the 800 x 800 and reduce the image size of some of the others if I can get my head around how it works and keep them high quality but small.Any help much much appreciated, had to delete all the pictures at present as we managed to fill the server. Thanks in advance

msward
Sorry, should have attached these files. The website is www.262sportsphotography.com/shopClick on Run2017 Brighton MarathonYou will see the picture of the 2 guys in yellow tops, this is the one I have been using to do the testing, the original image I am using is 460 x 460, in the image settings I have large_default set to 250 x 250, looking at the image url, this is the correct image for the main product picture on the products page but it creates one of 460 x 460 despite the setting and displays it as you will see at 460 x 460 not 250 x 250Its rotated at the moment as I was testing to make sure what I was changing was actually being changed, the image is actually square with a white border, this allow me to have all images square and initially 460 x 460.Any help much appreciated
msward
Well I got somewhere, I forgot to say that I import my product using Prestashop Manager, I decided to go directly in Presashop and delete one and add it directly and ti came in perfectly and indeed did not create the 800 x 800 image that I had deleted. It appears the problem was with Prestashop manager, I reboots and reloaded it, did a re-sync and it now creates the correct images at the correct size but still having a couple of issues.1. The images it creates are MUCH bigger in size than the Prestashop ones but don't look any different, example the product image is 400 x 400 and Prestashop one is 32kb, the Manager one is 88kb, nearly 3 times the size.2. Even though it creates a 400 x400 product image, it then displays in the shop at 460 x 460 whereas the one directly created in Prestashop creates 400 x 400 and displays 400 x 400 ?Weird !, I cant find anywhere that each image has its own display settings so assume the page just uses the settings in the image config file ?
