[SOLVED] empty page after the security update

Hi everyone,
I installed PS 1.3. Shortly after that i noticed the security update and i made all the changes according the instruction. But now, when i access my store, all i see is an empty page with nothing. Does it take time the server updates the changes and that's why i see the empty page?
If not, what could be the cause? I mean the most common mistakes that newbees make?

You must have made a mistake when applying the security update. Edit config/config.inc.php and temporarily change 'display_errors' from 'off' to 'on' to get an error message instead of a blank screen, then paste the error here.

Hi Rocky,
thanks a lot for giving me the hint, i've solved the problem after changing the display error off to on.
the message was:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{', expecting T_FUNCTION in classes/Cookie.php on line 173

when i copied/pasted the security update code, at line 164 of Cookie.php, there was just one line gap between the pasted code and the code next to that. I deleted the gap at the line 173 and now i see my homepage again
