Module Installation 2017

Please please help.   Pretty simple,,, I installed PrestaShop 1.6.1.12...   I tried to get familiar with the setup.
 

PROBLEM #1
I used the default Template...  I noticed that many of the Modules were showing INSTALL instead of CONFIGURE,  So, I clicked on install and the system said it was already installed, I can't CONFIGURE because the button says INSTALL.  I can't INSTALL because the system says it's already installed.

PROBLEM #2
When I install NEW MODULES they do not show in the MODULES menu. The number of the installed MODULES stays the same. I empty the cache, log out, log in, still NO MODULE,

PROBLEM #3
When I go into LIVE EDIT mode, some of the items are editable and some are not.

PROBLEM #4
What if I want a slider on the home page AND another slider on another page. How do I place another instance of a MODULE on a different page?

Please help and tell me that I have not made a HUGE mistake.
