Implementing Paypal

Recommended Posts

Making such progress with the whole of this site I am so impressed with the software.

Trying to test my new site for Paypal and so set up a sandbox account - have set up a seller and a few buyer accounts in Paypal Sandbox and seem to have got it working on my site, however the transactions never complete. Now being new to all this I don't know if this is supposed to happen or whether I have a problem somewhere.

Basically this is what is happening

From the checkout cart it goes to Paypal and I pay for the goods using a Sandbox Paypal buyer account. This is then showing up in my sandbox Paypal buyers account and my balance is reduced to reflect payment.

On my sellers sandbox Paypal account it shows the money coming in with the payment under review.

So far so good!

However when I go back to my shop it shows a payment error in back-office and tells the customer that there has been a payment error and I assume the order is then dead.

Is this supposed to happen because it is in the sandbox mode - or do I have a problem somewhere, Followed the system instructions for setting up the paypal account and the fact that I see all the correct transactions on the PayPal account suggests to me that maybe everything is ok?

Grateful for some help.

It should work fine with the sandbox too, as long as the site can accept a callback from paypal (for the IPN). A local server on your PC may not work if you don't have external access to it.

Which version of the paypal payment module are you using (out of interest)?

I only downloaded the software this Saturday (as I said the progress I have made is totally surprising me!) from your site - so I guess it is the latest module. I haven't worked out how to run this as a test system on my own PC (really need to do this - any clues on how I go about this) so I am using everything on my live host at the moment.

Mightily impressed with the software by the way

If you downloaded from prestashop.com then it's not my site ;-)

The reason for my interest is that I've been working on a new version, so wondered if it was an "undocumented feature" i.e. bug in MY code, rather than the official release!

In terms of installing locally, there are limitations, but I use xampp personally. There are a few different options available though. You may get some guidance by reading this thread:
