Cannot display language selector

Hello,

 

I am facing quite few problems with Prestashop 1.7 (current release).

 

First I had setup a multistore with two domains, one for german and one for english speaking customers. Then, because the problems with multistore were just too annoying (not a topic in this thread) I moved back to a regular store. Now the store has default language german.

 

The english language is installed and activated, but the language selector is not displayed (classic theme). I have set the block to the displayNav2 hook but still it doesn't display.

 

Also what is curious, when clicking on translations, only 1 language is shown, even though the page languages shows 2 (and active).

 

I currently have no clue how to activate the second language (if that is the issue) and how to display the lang selector.

 

I also regenerated the htaccess file by deleting the old one and saving again the URLs (under show parameters > traffic).
