nickgorrell
I love Drupal and am loving Prestashop - they are both simple effective and fundamentally clever in their base design - a union made to take on the World - might not be possible or sensible but without worrying about the technicalities I am interested to open the discussion to see what other people think. matbennett
Can't see any logical reason for it. Had PS been drupal orientated then I would have passed it over on my list of systems to test out as well.
spott
But Why not then WordPress - or Typo3 or phpBB3 or etc....At my point of view - PrestaShop is good shopping cart and its the main reason - why it likes me. I don't care about different bridges between other systems. It is good - but I think these bridges needs to be as additional modules, contributed by community. capono
One reason for bridging between different apps is authentication. If you combine various solutions into one website, you don't want your visitors to login in each solution seperately. We have a lot drupal (D) website running, and are now taking a first look at PS. PS is a serious candidate to push D's ecommerce aside. But the cms part of D is outstanding. We do not want to lose that.
radders
Drupal has the crazily-named Ubercart which has a similar feature set to Prestashop. Personally I've tried to understand it and it is all Greek to me but I'm sure it all makes sense to Drupal users..
capono
Drupal is more like a framework, not a ready to use cms/webshop. Starting from a first install you need to build functionality with a lot of modules. And compared to Ecommerce module, the Ubercart module has a lot of nice features, mostly interface. A first install of Prestashop has all the modules installed to USE your webshop. That makes it easier to start.
Jafar
I agree, bridges for prestashop with other scripts like Joomla, Drupal, and Wordpress are going to be the next wave of e-commerce as people want the SEO ability to add content with their store items. Having discussions on products is a new fun thing to do, e.g. Amazon Ratings. Prestashop has a CMS but it falls short. One company is working on a bridge between Presta and Wordpress.
