Congratulations! Update is finished! Unfortunately, 24 SQL errors have occurred.

Recommended Posts

I've been working on a PS installation v1.2.5 and have gotten to the point where I'm ready to move it onto a new host in order to launch.

On the new server, I created a db, imported the existing v1.2.5 db, loaded the v1.3.1 version sw and ran the updater, all went well until the final step where I was greeted with the message:
Congratulations! Update is finished! Unfortunately, 24 SQL errors have occurred.

I don't even know where to begin.

Is it worth pursuing this or just take the easy way out and go back to v1.2.5?

Having looked through the forum, I see a lot of people are having issues with the upgrade but I haven't seen any easy solutions as yet.

I'm open to any advice.... anything would be good, thanks.

Error log attached for anyone interested or clever enough.

It seems that you are trying to upgrade a database that has already been partially upgraded. PrestaShop is trying to add indexes to your database tables, but is finding that those indexes are already there. Did you previously try to upgrade PrestaShop? You'll need to restore a backup of your website from before you have attempted any upgrade, then remove any duplicate rows from it, then perform an upgrade.

The installation started off as ver 1.2.4. and I did upgrade to 1.2.5.

If I go back to the 1.2.4 db I'll have to start entering products all over again.

If that is the case, it will just be easier to stick with 1.2.5.

Would it be feasible to change the db manually?

I can't see the point of upgrades if it's going to be this difficult, not to mention the teething problems to sort out once the upgrade is installed.

But thanks for your help with this Rocky, I think I'm going to need to speak to you about some website work...

That doesn't make any sense. There were no SQL changes between PrestaShop v1.2.4 and PrestaShop v1.2.5, so there shouldn't be any SQL errors. The only thing that would make sense would be if your PrestaShop version in config/settings.inc.php was set to an earlier version of PrestaShop than v1.2.4. That would cause the upgrade to fail.

Upgrading the database manually is very difficult. It is better to let the installer upgrade for you.

Your reply made me think and I realised I'd attempted to import products instead of entering manually (it didn't work correctly) and perhaps that had caused the errors.
So out of interest I restored the db to an earlier back up to see if it would upgrade successfully.

The upgrade procedure ended with exactly the same message..... the 24 errors.
Or in other words, forget the upgrade, stick with what you have.

I hope upgrading will become less problematic in the future.... nice thought. :-/
