Rhobur
Hello, Some months ago was said that overrides will still be possible in 1.7 except the the code related to Symfony. Does this still apply? Everything can be overridden except the Product related classes? Thanks in advance :-)
eleazar
You sure that you didn't misunderstood , what Xavier wanted to communicate? ... "instead of each developer having a separate set of overrides, we want developers who need an override to let us know about it, so that the next version of PrestaShop includes it directly".In short, in future you can only override a standard behaviour when the Prestashop team agrees. And after they fixed that "currently" Symfony ignores the overrides ... However, "overrides are the wrong answer to a real problem", which means in the long run the override system will vanish: "It’s an Open Source project, go ahead, open a pull request on GitHub, just like contributor." (http://build.prestashop.com/news/prestashop-1-7-faq/#is-there-any-change-planned-to-the-override-system)
Rhobur
I totally disagree. It happens very often almost on every project that a client wants a new/different functionality not existing in the current PS version. What am I expected to do, tell hem to wait for months to see if it'll be included or not into the core?
eleazar
I guess you got me wrong. The above quotes don't reflect my personal opinion. Blame it on the PrestaShop team.
