making colors uniform in prestashop 1.6

Hello all,

 

Super new to PrestaShop and to website design as well...

 

I've downloaded and installed the css editor module and have been reading these forums for clues on how to change the background color of the blocks, but I'm running into problems...

 

I would like for all blocks: top block (where you have the language and the currency switcher and the log in button), the shopping cart block; the horizontal menu block and the footer to be black.

 

I've managed to change the horizontal menu block and the footer to black but it is obvious there is a difference in shade, especially if you look at the social media container. Right now it looks like the top block, the shopping cart block and the social media container are a very dark gray, while the horizontal menu and the footer block are black.

 

I would also like to have the type inside the horizontal menu block to be white (right now it's a very dark gray).

Can anybody help me out with a solution that I can plug into the css editor?
