Lucif
I have multiple shops, all running on old versions of prestashop. An update is very very welcome. One shop i tried to update to 1.6 but it failed and i think it is because of the old prestashop shop version. I fixed it manually, but i am not capable to fix it all, so we are working with a shop dat has a half working BO. Cannot install modules, very strange BO, no images etc. Tried to get help from this site, but no one responded. Because of my pregnancy (over the 7 months already!) i want to update all my shops before the baby arrives. So i have to make a decission: 1. Build the 3 shops from the beginning in 1.7, its now the time and i am totally updated and i can upgrade in the future easily to 1.7.1 for example, which i can't when i choose for the latest version of 1.6. 2. Build the 3 shops from the beginning in 1.6. I cannot use the auto upgrade, because of all the handmade changes in very very much files. And i think i don't have the time in the near future to upgrade to 1.7, so we will stay in 1.6 for multiple years. 3. Forget Prestashop and try another, for example Magento. Also much more complicated to manage and not exempt of bugs as well. Edited January 10, 2017 by Guest (see edit history)

Guest
Thank you. And do you recommend this one: PrestaShop v1.6.1.10 Stable - Released on December 01, 2016 - Changelog | Download Or another one? This one is great, because the next one is a beta version.. so better not use it on real website.
Dreamtheme
PrestaShop is good for small shops, for example shops with 200-2000 products. Magento is good for large stores with more then 15000-20000 products. Also Magento is paid, while PrestaShop is free. PrestaShop 1.6 is pretty stable and very easy if you configure your hosting properly. It is a bit early for 1.7.x

PrestaShop 1.6 is pretty stable and very easy if you configure your hosting properly. It is a bit early for 1.7.x This thing talking about prestashop for small shops doesn't really means sense... there are Prestashop shops working good with more than 50.000 products as I can see. Also Magento Community edition is and has always been FREE as Prestashop download version is. The Magento Entreprise edition is a paid solution and cannot be compared to open source free of charges CMS. "A bit early for 1.7" : that is the best advice but I would like to say : it's "REALLY early" instead.
