MockoB
I found some SEO ecommerce comparison scores on the web and Presta was at the end of the list, way behind platforms I didn't even heard of. On the scale to 100 Prestashop was scoring just 28. The way I see things if your goal is sales there are not many things you need and most importants are - Speed, Good appearance and some useful and interesting content. Of course the platform should help your efforts and not pulling you down. I run Presta store 1.5 for more than two years and when it gets to SEO it is absolutely tragic! I got a lot of unique content and I wrote it in the description field because at the time I started I was thinking it will be indexed by google but guess what!? The competition has 1/10 of my content on one single (long) page and they are ranking way much better?!? Then I uploaded blog module thanks to Smart DataSoft but I am running ssl certificate on my store and it happens that blog part is https and according google it is different domain than http version ... And many MANY more issues. Basic features like breadcrumb snippets or other rich snippets are must but they are missing, alt text for images, rel prev/next ... I am planning another store and after I read review from much respected Prestashop member that 1.7 is a failure, after I saw many Prestashop 1.6 fatal issues with production stores, considering that there won't be any support for 1.6 in future. Please tell me to be, or not to be on Prestashop? That is the question! Is there light in the dark?
