[Solved] "Link to database cannot be established"

Hello guys,
this might sound dumb but: I forgot the password to my back-end store. I found this article that explained how to change the password with the cookie key in the database...
But I also forgot the password to the database. so i changed it, then i successfully changed the back-end store password. After I login it goes no where and gives me this error:"Link to database cannot be established."

please help me. how can I redefine the database password for the store again?

Go to /config and open settings.inc.php. You can change your DB password there.

The file is a PHP file, so it is not possible to view it in a browser. The only way someone could access it is if they have your FTP username and password.

I also had the problem; “Link to database cannot be established”.

As proposed here and elsewhere, I changed the password in config/settings.inc.php manually back to the emailed password, but I still could not enter the site or the admin-page.

The solution for me was to change the password (also) of the database (mySql or php -I forgot) through my webhosting admin site (one.com).

PreHistory:
After I received a mail with a new password I got in to admin-page. As soon as I entered a new password in Tools/Preferences, I got kicked off with “Link to database cannot be established”.
