flaming94
Hi, I recently began developing a new website from scratch on my localhost to replace my aging live website. I was wondering if their was a method to take all of the existing data from my prestashop 1.4 SQL database and more or less transplant it into my new 1.6 SQL database. I understand this can be done through CSV imports but i continually run into errors stating "cannot be saved" using this. I assume that between 1.4 and 1.6 the table structure for the database has changed a bit as well.
Rolige
Yes, the database is little different, you can use the module 1-Click Upgrade and... 1. Update to the latest version of PS 1.4 2. Update to firs stable version of PS 1.5 3. Update to latest stable version of PS 1.5 4. Update to firs stable version of PS 1.6 5. Update to latest stable version of PS 1.
depi
Hi Rolige, this mean "to do all the steps, one after the other"? First the 1-click upgrade from 1.4.7 to the latest version of PS 1.4 then the 1-click upgrade to the firs stable version of PS 1.5 then the 1-click upgrade to the latest stable version of PS 1.5 and so on... Thanks

If 1 click upgrade is available in your PS 1.4 version, just update to the latest 1.6 version. If not, then upgrade to the latest 1.4 version then to the latest 1.6 version. I already did this thousand times

Johann
Of course I use PrestaShop since version 1.1.0.5 (2009), and made many, many, many update for 8 years now. Before the 1 click upgdate module appeared, updates were made manualy, but when it appeared (PS 1.4.x), you can update directly to the latest versions. Modifications made to the database are sequentialy made (look at the sql folder in the installation folder). So really no need to to PS 1.4 -> PS 1.5.0 -> 1.5.6.3 -> PS 1.6.0 -> PS 1.6.1.10 You can even update PS 1.1.0.5 manually to 1.4.11 and then use 1-click module to update to 1.6.1.10. In just two steps
selectshop.at
Prestashop you can manually upgrade from 1.1. to 1.4 After this you should use necessarily the 1-click upgrade module. Before you upgrade 1.4. to 1.5. with the upgrading module you should: 1) Deinstall non native theme and use the native one during upgrade. 2) Deactivate all non native tools/addons/modules. After upgrade to 1.5./1.6 (if you are making an upgrade directly to latest 1.6. version), activate one by one the extras (non natives) and check if they are working. 99,99% possibly not the case, cause the structure from Prestashop changed with 1.5. and now hooks are used. PS: as your added topic has nothing to do with SEO, I'm moving it to the correct forum section.
flaming94
Hi all, Thanks for all the responses on the topic. I havent had a chance to do any of the suggested steps yet but ill be sure to try them. I used the 1 click upgrade initially going from 1.4 to 1.6 without disabling my custom theme or modules and it lead to a rather broken store so i rolled it back and went with a new approach of building a store from scratch. Ill post again when ive gone through everything will my results.
flaming94
Thanks Rolige for the assist, upgrading from 1.4 --> 1.5 --> 1.5 --> 1.6 --> 1.6 worked a charm and kept everything all happy. Disabling non native modules and themes also helped to ensure it didn't lose its mind.
