Prestashop 1.7 impossible to save module translation

Recommended Posts

Hello,

There is no way to translate a module: saving impossible.

I click on "translate" on the pmodule bo page.

Then I select the language. On the back office page, I change the wordings then click on "Save and stay" or "Save".

--> nothing happens, nothing in firebug console.

Prestashop 1.7.0.2

Thanks for your help

Same problem here, with 1.7.6.4

I try to translate a text from the newst Bank Wire module from English to my language, but the new values do not save.

I do not even find the translation in the DB!

Where are the current translations stored? This is unbelivable!

Hi

Did You found a solution for that?

I am facing this problem since 1.7.5 and now with 1.7.6.4  i can still not translate anything.

Theme and module translations are saved and there is an entry in the ps_translations table. But the Frontend stays the same. I changed the translation manual in all translation folders i could find the string. In the frontend are still different translations, i dont know where the source is from the translations but there seem to be another one. I have switched off all caches too.

The email translations doesn't even save the changes. The green notice "succecfull saved" but the new translation is cleared after saving and change back to the old string

I have installed a new 1.7.6.5 today and still there is the same problem. It is impossible to translate other than in the source code.

I can provide logins if someone who does not have the problem like to have  a look into it

I had expirience the same. But: After you save your strings, and the site refreshes - refresh manual again!

Tada: You see your new strings.

Also, try to Menu - Advanced Parameters - Performance - Template Compilation: "Force Recompile"

Use this option whenever you are changing stuff, and just if everything is set turn it back to "Recompile Templates if the files have been updated"

Also, you say did so, but manuall clearing the Cache in the Top corner of the same Menu is always a good idea.

Hope this helps a bit already.

Nothing to do with that, you can refresh as much you like and clear caches. If there is a configuartion/handling reason for it it is the Server, but when installing Prestashop, there is no error message after testing the Server configuartions. I run PHP 7.2.30

Have a look on the site and try to translate something:

Changed your Wire Payment - English Translation to "Bank TRANSFER EDITED". Worked.

Didnt even needed the refresh I need to do usally

I never tried the backend translations. Try again please and translate something in the frontend. I usually try to translate the "call us" text from the contactinformation module in the upper left corner of the frontpage. I just tried it to make sure 😉

Interesting that it seems to work in the backend, at least for some modules like bank_transfer...

Works fine for me as well.

PassionX:

You noticed im no developer but just a user, right?

Went again to your Translation - Theme - classic - English and changed the Call us to "EDITED Call...."

No issues.

You got to cross-check your own claims and use multiple browsers and spend time yourself trying things before you post in here.

PS is free, this does mean you got to spend effort into it ;o)

With a payed subscription you can bother the support with small Questions like yours - but not with a free project that is community runned ;o) We all just loose time by this.

PS.6thFNGR:

Yes sure if you would be developper, you would not write what you wrote 😉

I am just answering to you as you seem to not see the problem or you do not investigate it before you answer to me:

This is what you did:

You changed a term in the backend. It worked in the backend. So now when you go to the frontend you can see that your freshly changed term is not translated to your new translation. So you have reproducet the bug but you did not noticed because you did not checked it in the frontend. I have spent more than 100h to solve that problem and i was investigating for much more than that. It is also a force in Github but it is not soved yet as it seems to be related to Symphony.

To make you happy I have attached a screenshot from Firefox and one from Safari. If you can see your "EDITED" term in the frontend please proof that before you go to publish that i use your time. There are a lot stupid posts in here, but what you wrote is just rude as it is a wel known problem in Forums. However, not everybody seems to have that problem and thats why i try to investigate if it has to do with the hosting server...

Thanks anyway for your help but it is not helping until yet 😉

regards

No offense, but you got to check your facts!

You asked:

Quote

The email translations doesn't even save the changes. The green notice "succecfull saved" but the new translation is cleared after saving and change back to the old string

And I replied properly to that issue that it is NOT the case!

Front Office Bug was not mentioned to that time, and your second reply was readed to quick - my apoligizes.

Make a GitHub Ticket, plain and simple.

Wasting 100h of time is no argument :P Somewhere, the value has to come from. So, if you want to solve it yourself find the origin. Otherwise, why dont you do yourself a favor and report it to the Devs instead of hoping someone will reply in this "lame Forum" which is not maintained by PS Staff?

As your problem does not seem urgent (security, features), maybe focus on other problems in the meantime and wait til they get back.

Sorry if i have described the bug no clearly enough. In some cases or with some modules the terms does not save in the backend, this is the case with email translations and there is a notice that no file was found.

But the real problem is that it is impossible to translate the frontend.

Thank You for your answers and i apologize for my bad description. Your answers where accurate.

best regards
