European addresses versus USA addresses

We are a USA based e-commerce site.

We are experiencing declined payments by credit cards from European customers. When a customer in Europe attempts to add the required data in the payment section, the traditional European address format does not fit properly into the traditional USA address cells. For example, a POST CODE in Europe of 4 digits is rejected because a USA zip code requires 5 digits.

As a result, the order fails to take place, and it is frustrating.

Can anyone give advice on how to cope with this?

But in Prestashop you can set a required post code format for every country. European countries have many different post codes. Or you can leave the field for the postcode format blank to not require any specific format. It needs to be done for every country that you serve (in Localization -> Countries).

Thanks Daresh.

The credit card processor rejects any transaction that does not exactly match the credit card holders address, so having an "open format" will result in the same results that we have now.

It may be necessary to format each country individually, but I wonder why that is not already done by Prestashop as part of a true e-commerce system? After all, there are a lot of countries in the world.

Does anyone else have a solution to this problem?
