(solved)Update MAMP - worthwhile?

Recommended Posts

Hi all Gurus!
My name is Stefan and i am quite new to this fantastic Prestashop. I am developing a site (well a few ones) and thinging of upgrading MAMP.

Anyone know if there are any issues regarding this?

I am a Swedish webdesigner living in Paris and i have a few nice things i have done wich i cant wait to show;) Although i guess it is nothing compared to whats already out there:)

I have rebuild one of the modules so now i have advertising on the frontpage (they are nice looking) fully editable from the amin with images and all.) Very handy.

Regards,

Stefan

Hello Stefan, what MAMP version are you currently using?

An upgrade is fairly easy, but it depends if you have customized any Apache settings to suit your projects. If you have done then you have to copy them back over.

Hi and thanks for your reply,

I am using version 1.8.4 and i have already tested to update (but i went back again) and it was no problem at all with the update procedure- just follow the guide.

However i got a bit cold feets when i read that there sometimes are issues when it comes to newer versions of php, mysql etc. functions that behave diffrent depending on version. I am really not sure about what can happen when uploading database and so on to the webhotel - that is my concern... i don´t want to mess up before it is ready for launch and i am soon there.... on the other hand it is always a good idea to develop in the latest versions...

It feels like it is more clever to wait until all is up,n running - How do you think?

BTW you don´t happen to know anything about the links?
((sorry onother thing under develop - feel free to check - i´ll be happy:)

Funny my reply disappeared... Here we go again...

Yes it works great! Although it is the same link on all the ads - what i was trying to do is to point each image to its own cms page...

simply change the id number of the link to go to your page. You can find this in the admin against the list of CMS items.

You will need to change each module, it is different link if you have seo turned on

why not make extra field for URL also, and enter code variable into module so it picks up this a href link.... another enhancement!

The link is the original link in tpl and takes you to the product it self based on admin - but i have changed that to a cms page so now they all goes to the same... cms6 instead.

What i trying to do is to point the "product or ad" to a cms page, diffrent one for all 3 - maybe i can just change it in the DB but preferable in the temolate i think...

Yep it is just to change the cms id right although they all go to the same page then - i would like to find out to make each"ad" to go to its "own" cms page - like the left to cms 3, the middle one to cms 4 etc...

Is that what you mean with extra field url...?

This is how the code looks... and if you want i can send you the module if you have use 4 it...

Looks like you will need to adjust that code in order to specify your CMS links around each of the products. At the moment you have the problem of pulling in the products automatically, but not having control over the link to CMS>

Sorry I am not that great on code so cant help with the actual code.

No worries mate - i think it is possible to import a link from for instance the footer links - they are pointing the cms:)
Thanks for the conversation - i also saw the safety website - Your work? Nice!
