Korvak
First, is the import feature reliable enough to import 15,000 products from my CSV file? If not, can I do 2,000 at a time?Second, and most important, I read the documentation WIKI that says you can import product images, by listing the file name separated by commas:http://www.prestashop.com/wiki/Importing_Product_Data/However, when I import my CSV file, it does not give me an option to link a field for "images." Was this feature mistakenly left out of the import feature? Can someone else try importing a test CSV file and tell me if they have "images" in the drop down after clicking the import button? Nakano
First, is the import feature reliable enough to import 15,000 products from my CSV file? If not, can I do 2,000 at a time? Hmm... never been there, never done that. Maximum I did was around 130. Beware that if the import code does not like any particular text in you CSV (text encoding, for example), the next time you try to import the same file again, be sure to have product IDs' column filled in, otherwise say you tried import 2000 products (with products' ID column left blank), next time you hit the import button you will duplicate entries, starting from ID=2001.Second, and most important, I read the documentation WIKI that says you can import product images, by listing the file name separated by commasHowever, when I import my CSV file, it does not give me an option to link a field for “images.” Was this feature mistakenly left out of the import feature? I'm just an average Prestashop user so I really don't know if the coding team left out this import feature by mistake or lack of time back then. What I do know is that version 1.0.0.8 does NOT do that at all. Please note that on that very same page you quoted, it's said that As of PrestaShop v1.1, the quantity discounts are not importable using the Import tool; you might even notice that there aren't any example screenshots loaded, contrary to previous version mentioning limited uploadable data. But v1.1 hasn't been released yet, even though we're anxious for it to see light.5th Convention E-Commerce Paris 2008 is currently underway, from September 23 to 25. A french thread in this forum mentioned that v1.1 is already complete, my guess is that they are showing it off at the convention, come home for some beer, rest a day (and maybe correct a couple of bugs), than upload it to our joy or pain. But who knows...? getmerich63
The last I heard 1.1 RC1 should be out in the next week or 2. The developers were behind in getting it finished in time So please give them 11-2 weeks to get it ready. The new version will with the CSV Import will be able to do images also when it ets released. MeowsTheTime
Gosh, I feel like the dumb kid in a room full of Rocket Scientist. I finally got past "shipping" and was so happy until I started on my importing product phase. It must just be me, I have over 4000 products but started with only about 12 so I could try and get the hang of it and work out all the bugs.....I can't even get past this. All the information I have researched is either old or non existent. I'm taking a shot in the dark to see if anyone reads the forums and for those who are smarter than me, if they will reply. Here goes: I get .csv, I understand it. I use excel but can use the other "free one" if need to. I am confused because I have my master product spreadsheet with a lot more information that what I can upload. I'm confused as to why I keep reading that I have to change mine to vertical? Is that an older version? Really? The more I research the more confused I get. I need help with CSV import, is there somewhere I can go for updated information on version: 1.4.5.1?
