CSV Import Problems

I have a large catalog and trying to import my csv file. I am running into some weird errors.  I made sue all the fields in the csv match up. But then I upload the Products, it adds things to the categories also. I also get these errors.  Can someone point me in the correct direction?

 

For instance

 

Property Product->ean13 length (18) must be between 0 and 13

 

EAN13 field is blank

there are multiple to do lists are there.

Which PS version you are using?

PS version is up to date ?

If you have upgraded some modules and you haven't upgraded PS version then you will have issue while importing products.

Fresh 1.6 .  I just installed it.  I think my csv had some characters that should not have been there. I stripped the ; and ,  out of it and I will see how that does.  Still dont know why if I am importing to products the categories get changed

If I have a field like EAN13  blank should I just lt it read the blank field or ignore the column?  Does it make a difference?

Ok great, you can ignore EAN13 if that causes issues. Other things are fine

Any idea which tables are being changed when you upload products?  I would prefer to change the table than use a csv.  Its easier for me.

In my case when i was importing products for 1.6 this was working very well.

Its not recommended. lots of tables require entry for products.

Or else you can use third party import tool to import products.

Do you not put an ID in? 1st column

Good to know. 1 more quick thing.  I gto my csv so no more errors but I still get these for almost every line item. Anything to worry about?

not at all. If you havn't specified url then PS will generate auto based on name
