Products won't save

Hello,

 

I'm using 1.6.1.2 for my shop and when I update or add a new product its hit or miss if it saves. The screen flashes as if it does save but no change occurs on the front of the shop and I get no notification saying "Item saved" on the screen. I have to keep inputting the same information into the product screen and hitting save or save and stay over and over till finally after several tries it sometimes saves the item.
