Happybookshop
I have hit yet another problem with Prestashop. How do I do a URL for a catergory? When I make a new category, it puts in a friendly URL which is the same as the category. How do I change it? When it creates the URL, Prestashop keeps putting a number and dash in the URL. I want the URL to be www.xxxxxxxxx.com/children, but for some annoying reason, Prestashop makes it www.xxxxxxxxxx.com/3-children. How do I fix it? Thanks Edited November 13, 2016 by Happybookshop (see edit history)
Daresh
By default it's not possible, the ID must be in the URL. It's only possible with use of additional modules like BASEO.
pause4paws
I find this to be annoying. Is it fixed in the 1.7 upgrade?
Daresh
It's not a bug, so you can't consider it as something to fix.
pause4paws
How come other websites don't have URLS with the ID number in them?
Daresh
Other websites are other websites. Why is ID number in URL bad?
pause4paws
If it's number 50, it looks like maybe there are 50 other categories with the same name.
Daresh
So if it bothers you, the only way is to choose some link rewriting module. I don't expect the default link structure to change in Prestashop anytime soon.
pause4paws
Not really. Thanks:)
Happybookshop
Cheers. I will see if I can find a free link rewriting module. Having the name, rather than a number-name is easier for people to remember if they want to go to a particular page and I think it looks better. If I can get it sorted, great, if not, then I guess there are plenty of alternatives to Prestashop.
