implications of switching off front office security

If I use front office security I get lots of errors and problems with the usability of PM in terms of adding items to the shopping cart and for searching. With security switched off, everything seems perfect.

Does anyone know the security implications of switching off front office security and what the cause of my problems might be as ideally I'd obviously prefer to use any security measures available!
