MySQL & PHP minimums maximums etc

I have asked my host to upgrade my PHP  and MySQL  to versions 5.6  for another project  that requires this and I had a message from my host see below.

 

 

 Please note that once MySQL version get upgraded , It is not possible to revert back MySQL version on server. Please check your website compatibility with your web developer for both PHP v5.6+ and MySQL 5.6 , So that we will assist you accordingly.

 

 

My question is this  Im currently using 1.6.0.14 and my current versions are  below,   Before I agree to this upgrade will this effect my current shop

It should be not necessary to update MySQL, I would update only PHP to 5.6.

the problem i have is Invision require 5.6  my concern is will it effect the workings of my current shop as that I cannot afford to risk if there are any stability issues I would get a seperate host

For PHP or for MySQL? There should be no problem with PHP to return to the previous version.

PHP 5.6 and MySQL 5.6 are both fine. Don't use PHP 7 and MySQL 5.7.
