Why can't i choose to not use image generate function?

I used many CMS or eshop system, all the thumbnail is generated in the same ratio as original photos without white or black canvas added at all. I just need the photo to be resized at the same ratio only, no canvas. It should be much easier to delete than add a function, is there any possibility that no canvas been added? I search the whole forum, there is not a perfect solution found. In my personal opinion, this function is needless. Why i say this is because it cost less time to process all the images on the computer than find all kinds of ways to try to solve the white/black border problem.
