How do I go about making the color in the center and left columns even if one has more info than the other?

You need to set the background of the #page container to be white rather than the floated columns.

Ok.. did that.. but it made the header color white as well. How do I keep the header color the same as the background color?

   width: 71%;
   text-align: right;

Forget it.. I figured out the header thing.... I should have been modifying "h1#logo"

In your case, you may need to make a background image one pixel wide with the same height as the header, then set the background of the page to #fff url('../img/page.gif') repeat-x;
