Forced to do manual upgrade through upgrade script

I am trying to upgrade from 1.4.6 to 1.6+ and on the process I lost my modules tab and when I try to run the script directly from my server ...install/upgrade/upgrade.php I receive the following error:

Warning: require_once(/home/content/13/8897513/html/shop/config/defines_uri.inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/13/8897513/html/shop/install/init.php on line 45

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/home/content/13/8897513/html/shop/config/defines_uri.inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5_4/lib/php') in /home/content/13/8897513/html/shop/install/init.php on line 45

 

Does anyone has a clue on how to solve it?

The simple answer to your missing file is that you can download from the Prestashop site a copy of exactly this 1.4 version. You can install that and copy the missing files to your shop. 

 

However, there may be more things wrong and you may find it hard to restart the upgrade process that was broken off in the middle. It is for this reason that you are always advised to do an upgrade on a copy of your shop and then to upload that copy. 

 

Anyway: Prestashop always makes a copy of your database in the admin\autoupgrade\backup directory. Having this and your images you have all the essentials of your shop.
