PHP 5.2.9 (image management/upload broken) ????

well,
i was about to download prestashop as it looks excellent,
but ive suddenly been put off by this...

PrestaShop has to be installed on a web server. System requirements:
- Linux, Unix, or Windows
- Web Server (Apache 1.3 or later, IIS 6 or later)
- PHP 5.0* or later
- MySQL 5** or later
* Some PHP 5 versions are bugged and prevent PrestaShop from working correctly:
- PHP 5.2.1 (authentication is impossible)
- PHP 5.2.6 (authentication is impossible under 64bits servers)
- PHP 5.2.9 (image management/upload broken)
- PHP < 5.2 (invalid date timezone)

my hosting www.myhosting.com which i use, uses PHP 5.2.9 ....
ive looked at a few other hosts, but i dont want one in france (!) sorry, and most hosts say that they are php 5 but dont say which version.... and so i dont want to move hosts just to get this problem again!!

so, PHP 5.2.9 (image management/upload broken), is this really true?!
im so put off this software which 10 mins ago i had decided was the best ecommerce solution out there!!!?

I've never used PHP 5.2.9 (I'm using PHP 5.2.10), so I've never experienced the issue myself, but I've seen many posts on the forums where people can't upload images to their site. I think some people have found workarounds to the problem.
