How do I change top menu on a left menu?

Install/activate the the module "block categories". On back-office, tab modules -> modules -> search on that list for "block categories". Install/activate.

Category block was installed and active, but it is still top menu.

You are using non native theme ? Menu on top is another module and has nothing to do with the module block categories.... If you are using another theme, perhaps this does not allow, or does not use the hook of this module. In this case you should contact the developer of your theme.

I use the default theme and I know that it is possible to create menu in the left column, but I do not know how.

Than probably you simply deleted the block category module from the hook (with live editor?). In this case deinstall lthe module block categories and install it again, it will hook to the left column again.

 

OR hook the module manually: Tab modules -> positions -> move/add a module. Than from the list select the module blcokcategories and hook it again to leftColumn hook.

You can use "blocklink" module, or "blockcms" module, because "blocktopmenu" module is not available on displayLeftColumn hook.

It changed nothing. You can look at www.teknobiler.net where i have the menu in the left column on the same theme default bootstrap version 1.0, but as I said I do not know how to do it

You also deleted your browser cache ?  I can see all your categories on left category block....

If you want to see the menu on top, than you should install module "horizontal menu", AND Configure it.... It's not only install in this case, cause the top menu has the possibility to configure it with the links YOU nwant.

I do not want top menu - only menu in the left column as I have it on teknobiler.net
The reason is that I have to create quite a few categories that it is more appropriate to have them in the left column

So problem solved ? As far I can see on the page you linked the bloc catgegories is there. Or it is another page ?

The problem is not solved.  I still have not left menu on netshop4all.dk

Preferences -> Themes > Advanced settings - enable left column on "index".

It has been all the time and it has not changed anything

- what is the configuration of your "category block" module ?  there is an option to select what to show. You can select there between all categories or "subcategories of currently viewed category". What is your selection?

select them on the configuration of the module (you can take your other configuration shop as sample, take a look into the module configuration). Don't know how much depth you are using, but you should consider to change the maximum depth:

 

 

 

The screen attached is for if your MAIN categories are all added to Home, which is standard. If you made some change, perhaps it will not work.... I've seen this by some users not knowing what they are doing...

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me. It was the combination of the different answers that I received as I summarized and got solved the problem.
