Modules on Home page

I have binned (from live configuration) the top-sellers and new arrivals modules on the home page on default-bootstrap, 1.6 prestashop. I was trying to recover them for several hours with no luck. I got to transplanting those modules to various positions, but I could not see them appear on the front page, anywhere.

This even extends my problem: if you want some module to appear on the home page, what can be done?

Are you sure your modules are transplanted to displayHomeTab and displayHomeTabContent? If it is transplanted there and still you can't see it then share link of your site please.

Well, that seams to be a problem. I binned all the modules that went into displayHomeTab. The displayHomeTab hook completely disappeared. I tried to transplant modules to it, but it still does not appear in positions. So the problem is more in the missing hook.

I am doing testing using XAMPP and bitnami plugin, before uploading everything on server.

If you want display modules in tab it should be in hook displayHomeTabContent and displayHomeTab, if you want display not in tab it supposed to be in hook displayHome.

displayHomeTab and displayHomeTabContent are missing from the Modules>Positions.

Another problem is that for New Products module, displayHome position is not available for Transport, only the two mentioned above.

Not all modules have hook displayHome, you can add this hook in module controller.
