airbag
Hello, I know this topic presents itself within a few threads. There seems to be many of us wishing to clean up the URLs and make them as simplistic (and Search Engine Friendly) as possibleI wanted to ask the development team why we have ended up with numbers in the SEO URLs for Prestashop 1.2x. Was this intentional or just the way it had to be at the time of development and release? Is there an error free way to remove these for once and for all from a shop? Thanks, airbag
rocky
The reason that there are IDs in the friendly URLs is because it is possible to have more than one product with the same name. The product IDs are required to ensure that the friendly URL is unique.See my post here.
airbag
rocky, thanks for the reply.Could you provide an example when one might want to have two products with the same name and URL?Sorry but Im trying to get my head around why it has been made this way. Pshopic
I agree with rocky because there can be same product name. therefore ps used numbers to make them different. I can show you an example like in dailymotion. Actually they do not use number because there have millions of videos number will not be good in that. instead they use "xda2ip", which is same like as numbers.
