Combination Variables

Is it possible to force the product page to hide variables for combinations that do not exist, rather than giving an error that a combination does not exist?

 

For instance, I sell photographic prints in six different print medium, but three of those are only offered at larger sizes. The default combination on page load is 8x12, so when a user selects "Metal print" they see an error. What I would like to happen is for the 8x12 choice to be eliminated from the drop-down list of choices; ie, change to 16x24. I often see this happen when shopping online, specifically for clothing.

Metal prints are not available in either 8x12 or 12x18, nor are canvas. I have had users tell me they are confused and frustrated by this error and the trial of trying to find something that is available.

I have made time ago a module to hide the unavailable combination-attributes, but can't find it, maybe you can find a module for this in addons or google.

Thank you, I will look into that. I've searched many and can't find one that specifically does what I want.
