isaac.dvory
Hello, Presta 1.6.1.4. I have thousands of products and in order to manage them better I have created many categories and sub-categories with different topics / keywords / etc... I do not want all these categories to be displayed but I do want the links to the categories to work! I only want like 10 out of 50 to actually be displayed in all the auto category printouts that are on the website . I tried turning off the "Displayed" option for the categories that I don't want displayed but it also makes the link to that category inaccessible. Is there any easy workaround and if not, can someone direct me to the correct files where I need to do the modifications? I'm not sure if its better to edit the code so categories with "Displayed" status OFF will continue to work OR if better to leave all the "Displayed" on "ON" and edit the modules that are responsible on the auto printouts to display only certain categories... Thank you
Tung at RockPOS.com
What do you meany by "Display" anyway? You're looking for a way to not display these (sub) categories under the main categories? If so, just simply modify the template category.tpl to hide. Hope that helps! isaac.dvory
I want the categories to be hidden from all the automatic category menus that the site has and from the sitemap but I still need them to be accessible in case I send a link to someone for one of these categories
rocky
You can create a category called "Hidden categories" with parent "Home" and then disable that category. Add all your hidden categories as subcategories of that category and leave them enabled. The categories will now be hidden, but still accessible if the URL is entered. isaac.dvory
Thank you, I will try that and hopefully no programming will be required at all!
