"Leave base price" check-box

Hi,

 

I cannot fully understand the effect of "Leave base price" check-box. Correct me if I am wrong.

 

Location: Catalog / Products / Prices / Product Price

 

Base Price is to be understood as Retail price with tax [ or Pre-tax retail price ? ] , both appearing in  Catalog / Products / Prices / Product Price ? I presume is for Retail price with tax

 

When on same page, further down in SPECIFIC PRICES section 

 

Location: Catalog / Products / Prices / Specific Prices

 

If a Specific Price Rule is defined and "Leave base price" check-box is checked, rule will not be applied and Retail price with tax from Catalog / Products / Product Price will be applied.

 

Is my understanding correct ?

Hi

 

When setting Specific Price Rules if you un-tick the base price and set a new base price this overrides the price set above as the retail price (with TAX). So rather than setting a new specific price with a discount, you are setting a new set specific (retail) price.

 

You may want to do this is this particular scenario:

 

All "Customer Groups" see a price of £10 but when "Customer Group C" log in they see a fixed price of £5 (Specific base price set to £5 for Customer Group C).
