speeding up prestashop site

i am making a new prestashop site, ver 1.6.1.6, which is almost ready. The site has more than 20,000 products and almost every product has about 50-60 combinations, so it is a large catalogue. 

 

The site is not officially started so there are no visitors coming yet. 

 

But the site is very slow, and I need it to be optimized the best way possible, so that it can load any page under 2 seconds.

The main goal is to get all pages specially Category pages (including filter search results) and Product pages to load under 2 seconds.

 

The site is already on a dedicated server. The current page loading time is very erratic from 6 seconds to 12 seconds.

 

Anybody who can help with this I would really appreciate. I am also ready to do this as a project and pay for the help received, so that I can achieve this goal

There are a few things that can be done:

1) Turn on cache

2) Optimize SQL queries

3) Use elastic search instead of default.

4) Delete on unnecessary theme scripts and code

5) Optimize image sizes
