Cant regenerate thumbnails

My large_default images are fuzzy but when expanded to thickbox they are clear.

 

When trying to regen thumbnails i get a blank screen with the message [an error occurred while processing this directive]

 

I have tried all thumbnails and just the Products=> large_default set with the same results.

 

Any ideas?

there is probably not enough resources to process your request (in simple words hosting deny / breaks this request when you will exceed your account limits like memory limit, cpu limit). You see the error immediately or after some "loading" time ?

It happens after 30 seconds after clicking the regenerate button. What can I do to resolve?

so you've got 30 sec maximum script execution time. it is a case of hosting settings, there is nothing to do with prestashop.

if you will do this several times, all thumnails will be regenerated

Could I talk to the hosting? What setting need to be adjusted for it to work?

in this case - your max execution time should be increased. I dont know the exact value, no-one knows. It depends on how many products youv'e got,  how many images to transform etc.
